You will form strong relationships with stakeholders across the Department to ensure their needs are properly and accurately represented on the website.  Ideally you will have a background in developing and implementing web content in a public sector environment, with knowledge of the e-government web standards.  A good understanding of HTML is essential to your success in this role and experience with Information Architecture would be an added advantage.

The Department of Building and Housing was established in 2004 to ensure that the people of New Zealand have access to quality homes and buildings that meet their needs, reflect New Zealand’s environment and contribute to a sustainable New Zealand. 

 

The work of the Department touches the lives of every New Zealander – whether they are renting, buying, building or renovating their home.

 

The Communications Group has been reorganised to better meet the needs of the Department.  The Group is responsible for setting the overall strategic direction of the Department’s communications systems and working across the Department in the delivery of those systems.

 

In this highly visible role you will manage all updates on the Department of Building and Housing’s websites and intranet, using a content management system (CMS), as well as approving incoming content ensuring consistency and adherence to the brand guidelines.  No two days will be the same.

We’re looking for someone who is technically savvy and passionate about current and upcoming web trends and technologies, and would be able to provide recommendations on how to improve the Department’s web presence.
